Protecting the Environment wins Kudos for South Wales Ports

Environment Risk Assessment

To assist in the effective management of environmental issues, we have developed an Environmental Aspects Register which is used by each business unit to identify the environmental risks associated with their operations.

Although ABP’s ports vary in size and scale, they all have the potential to affect the surrounding environment.   This could be through a single large incident, such as an oil tanker spilling its load, or as a result of an ongoing activity where an effect gradually becomes apparent over a long period of time.

The Environmental Aspects Register (EAR) is designed to be applicable across the Company so that our understanding of the risks involved in any given operation is consistent from Ayr to Plymouth, and from Swansea to Lowestoft.  The completed aspect registers give ABP a better understanding of our environmental risks and allow corporate and local management to put in place appropriate actions.
